Bills

How to pay bills and not die while doing it.

In the last blog we identified the NECESSARY expenses and no we’re going to see how to reduce them. Let’s do it!

RENT – When choosing a rental, always try to do it on winter. During this time less people are willing to move due to the cold, so there are better offers as there is less demand. Sacrifice yourself and rent in winter.

MORTGAGE – Look at the possibility of REFINANCING. Interest is low these days and you could save a lot on your monthly payments. Also check your home insurance policy. Many respond to the interests of the bank, not yours. Changing insurances could help you save a lot.

INSURANCE – Savings are found when you combine all your insurance policies under the same company. Big companies (like Farmers Insurance) have exclusive packages that help you save big when you bundle your auto, home (or rental), life and other policies.

Be very careful with small companies where you save about ten or twenty dollars a month. Not only will your monthly payments increase in six months, but there will be headaches at the time of a claim.

AUTOMOBILE AND FUEL: When buying a car, take into account factors such as fuel costs, vehicle conditions and interest at the time of the loan. They are essential elements to avoid spending a lot at the gas station, in a repair shop, or in payments at the bank. Also, consider refinancing the down payment on your car. More than five percent of interest is too much.

We still have some other aspects to look at when it comes to savings. What about utilities, food, taxes, fun clothing, and the much-mentioned emergency funds?
