“It is better to have a one hundred dollar wallet with nine hundred inside, than a nine hundred dollar wallet with only one hundred inside.” I read something similar in a comment that clearly illustrates the economic phenomenon of fashion.
Remember, the purpose of this blog is to help you have saving and be able to face economic problems. I’m not saying that a good piece of clothing is not necessary. But, if you put fashion first, chances are you’ll end up naked.
Before giving advice on how to save on CLOTHES, we have to talk about having the correct attitude. That’s the only way to save. So, what’s the trick?
The fashion industry is one of the most successful. And as masters of the market, they will always try to modify the product, and make you believe that what you have is useful, because it is “out of style.” How do they do it? Among other things, exploiting our insecurities where the make us believe that the last piece on the market is going to give us the security we need, but is that true?
Unfortunately, sometimes we try to show what we are not. And fashions can be one of those ephemeral resources in our life, achieving only momentary physical security. Only by getting rid of that vice, you can save. Once we understand who loves us for who we are and no what we wear, we can save a lot on our outfits. How?
All the “fashionable” clothes, once their cycle ends, go to discount stores. Even name brand stores give discounts so they can get rid of old inventory and start a new cycle. There are also online stores where you can order, try on, and return clothes if they don’t fit or you simply don’t like it. That is how you can buy while saving money.
In short, to save, buy because you like it and it looks good on you, not just because someone says that’s how you should look.
